BINGO! BOPO
            in action

BINGO!

Paul Keller's Bird of Paradise Orchestra's third CD, BINGO!, is an outstanding big band presentation. The execution of the charts is wonderful with solos by Pete Siers, Keith Kaminski (lead alto) and others.  The band is just loaded with great players from the Ann Arbor - Detroit area.  This is a modern band playing today's big band music.  An Ellington piece, "Jack the Bear", a dixie favorite "Panama" and Neil Hefti's "Flight of the Foo Birds" show the variety and music the band plays.

The Bird of Paradise Orchestra, under the direction of bassist Paul Keller, has released its third, and best, CD, titled "Bingo!". BOPO, with a relatively stable personnel, has been playing on Monday nights at the Bird of Paradise club in Ann Arbor and has jelled into a superb big band. The section work is impeccable, and the soloists are first rate; above all these people swing, and they do it in tune. After so many years together, the band still plays with spirit and joy, propelled by the leader's infectious enthusiasm. All of these characteristics are well on display here.
